John Spencer teachers middle school in an urban, Title One school. He has experience in multiple grade levels and multiple subjects, as well as technology and language acquisition coaching. Currently, he is teaching computers and photojournalism.
John is an award-winning author whose work has been included in Kappan Magazine and The Answer Sheet, a Washington Post blog. He contributed to the technology textbook The Nature of Technology and is currently working on two education-related books. He also co-wrote the children's fantasy Wendell the World's Worst Wizard.
As an experienced keynote speaker and workshop presenter, John shares classroom stories, offers insights into learning and readily admits that he doesn't have all the answers. As a current classroom teacher, he is still learning new things an experiencing projects that fail. His areas of expertise include critical thinking, technology, language arts and social studies.
His latest project is Write About, a social publishing platform that he is co-founder of, alongside Brad Wilson, Jon Samuelson and Robert Amrbrister. It is due out this fall!
